These and many other questions will be answered as you take the first steps down your chosen career path.
Some careers just seem more exciting than others. Being a private investigator is definitely one of them. Few professions have been glamorized as much as the business of private investigation. The exploits routinely depicted in movies and television programs are at the outer fringe of the real-life career. Most PIs, as they’re usually called, don’t carry guns. Those who do almost never use them. A decades-long career in the real world may produce only a handful of experiences suitable for a movie or television episode.
A career as a private investigator can be a very challenging and rewarding experience. You’ll find it to be exciting even if you never get into a high-speed car chase. In fact, the current generation of private investigators spends most of the time behind a desk, mining the Internet for information to support their cases. Old-fashioned shoe-leather investigation and surveillance are still a large part of the career, but computer forensics and financial investigation are offering more opportunities than ever before.
